Hi,, I'm pleased to announce the release of TMSTimer.
This TAP is a replacement Reservations / Timers display for TMS machines. It is based on the AutoScheduler TMS code (thanks barnabas/deangelj), and shares the same look and feel. It is intended to integrate the two at some point so one can call the other directly, but it was felt this would be a useful TAP by itself.
In use, it simply displays all the timers, but it is able to sort them by time, name and service, and to filter them by show all, record only, or play/watch only. It also improves on the default reservation listing by giving you one key access to the timer list, and by showing files with the program names always (the default reservation list often shows timers with service names instead). To run, simply copy it over and start it. It defaults to activation by the Recall key (looks like a curved arrow), but this can be changed. It is also fully integrated with TMSCommander, allowing TMSCommander to stop and activate it. At this time it will delete timers, but not manually create new ones or edit existing ones - this is planned for future releases. An interesting "feature" is that if you list the timers by name, any SBS shows with the odd character at the front which can mess up some file transfers will appear out of order at the top of the list. This let's you know which ones you need to fix. Download current version (v1.00) from TAPWorld. Screen shot below. Note that you can change the size of the font used for names and for the time/date duration using the font key (white). Edited by JaffaMan - 20/Jun/2010 at 10:21am |

Thanks. I wanted to get it out in the wild so to speak before adding the timer editing, just to see what people thought, but it will come, hopefully shortly - I don't think it will be hard to do. I mainly wrote it so I could see the names of programs created by things like JustEPG and AutoSched, which the topfield generally reports with service and not program names.

I forgot to add, if you use this tap and sort by name, you may find some SBS shows appear at the top of the list and look like they are out of place alphabetically. These shows are the ones with the bad character at the start of their name. You could use this to find and modify those timers that will give you a bad file name if you try to copy it to a PC.

Thanks for this TAP. I much prefer it's presentation and easy call-up compared to the slightly fiddly Toppy menu method - something Andy's PBK Timer and Schedule pages spoilt me with on the 5000 ;)

this tap seems to fix the problem with "no program name" with auto schedule & works well.

The service name is leaving bits of letter outside the box. I use Seven HD the end of the D appears outside of the box. Pressing the font button does not make the service name any smaller. It would solve your problems if we replaced the srvice name with a fix size icon for each channel.

Thanks. I'm not seeing any issues here at the moment. The service name stuff is actually using the logos code from the UK TAP Project, and if you install logos.dat files it will pick them up and display the logos instead of the services over two lines shown at the moment - hence the funny look. Unfortunately I have only been able to partially get the logos working properly at the moment, I think something about how graphics work on TMS machines is different and the porting hasn't worked properly. In the mean time I will introduce a config option to replace the logos with display of the service number instead (70 for example). |
