Loss of Services

If indeed the "battery problem" is the cause of most of the 7000's woes (whether they are fixed or not by shorting the vacant battery holder contacts, connecting the contacts via a capacitor or installing a good battery), thanks should be given to Andy, Tassie Devil and Jimnielsen for bringing to our notice that there is in fact an internal battery (go back to March 2010... on page 50).    The wisdom of having a battery located in the "guts" of the machine is questionable.     The 7100+ has a battery (I know by peering through the front panel of display models in shops).   Other Topfield models (except for the 5000, which doesn't)....?   I've no idea.                                              Rog
