Thought that I would have a separate thread for skins and fonts. Put a picture of your skin in this thread and a printout of the skin file below it so that others can just copy and paste it into an editor like Notepad and the save it as a file ready to upload it to the ProgramFiles/Settings/Skin folder where JE looks for the skin files. You can have many skin files here - JE will cycle through them all using the default AR key on your remote.

It would also help if you could give a a link to others to download your font file(s).

You can send them to me at toppy@escconcepts.com and I will upload them for you if you haven't got a File Share site.

For a set of four of the most popular fonts 8,9,10,11,12 Fonts, download these from here.

The fonts are zipped into one file and include:

Arial, Arial Black, Arial Narrow and Verdana (main default font used in Windows Vista and Win 7).

Don't forget to rename the two fonts you've chosen to 10.fnt and 12.fnt regardless of their actual point size and set the Fonts> to 10,12 in the Menu.  Also don't forget to change each Page entry for the Font selection to 10.

You can also create your own fonts by using a PC Program called FontManager written by Firebird. It will create any font that you have resident on your PC.

Download it from here.

Ok, I'll start the ball rolling here.

This is my skin - for the moment anyway. I'm still fiddling with it and it can become an obsession, so watch out LOL.

You can use websites to gauge/preview colours and their RGB values. Here are a couple:

You can either just edit/change the colours you currently have in JE through the Menu or copy and paste the skin text below and create a new skin file - call it JusetEPGTMSjpp.mcf or whatever you like.mcf. To get the file into the Toppy, you'll need to use FTP to transfer it - you can't use a USB thumbstick as the Toppy won't allow you to upload a file type with the .mcf extension.

Here's the skin file:

// Menu Text
PopUpText=150,150,150
// Menu Text Selected
PopUpHigh=220,180,0
// Menu Title
PopUpTitle=102,153,0
// Highlighted Text
TextBold=102,153,0
// Frame
Border=77,77,25
// Background
BackGround=32,32,32
// Normal Text
TextNormal=175,175,175
// Past Background
OldTextBack=32,32,32
// Past Text
OldTextFore=140,140,140
// Current Background
CurrentBack=32,32,32
// Current Text
CurrentFore=132,183,0
// Future Background
NewTextBack=32,32,32
// Future Text
NewTextFore=175,175,175
// Full Timer Background
TimerBack=87,33,0
// Full Timer Text
TimerFore=150,150,150
// Selected Item Background
HighBackPart=0,0,0
// Selected Item Background
HighBackFull=0,0,0
// Partial Scroll Mode Text
HighForePart=250,200,0
// Full Scroll Mode Text
HighForeFull=220,110,10
// Channel Background
ChannelBack=77,77,25
// Channel Text
ChannelFore=220,220,220
// Currently Recording Background
RecordingBack=133,42,0
// Currently Recording Time Text
RecordingTimeFore=175,175,175
// Currently Recording Show Text
RecordingShowFore=175,175,175
// Orphan Background
OrphanBack=128,128,128
// Orphan Text
OrphanFore=200,200,200
// Partial Background
PartialBack=72,96,136
// Partial Text
PartialFore=140,140,140
// Favourite Background
FavouriteBack=32,32,32
// Favourite Text
FavouriteFore=49,102,155
// Repeat Background
RepeatBack=0,0,0
// Repeat Text
RepeatFore=115,115,45
// Favourite Repeat Background
FavRptBack=0,0,0
// Favourite Repeat Text
FavRptFore=0,150,220

And here's the relevant section of the Page text that has things like border thicknes and the like in it.

Note that I have a FontMode=10 setting which is for an external Font. Just leave your settings as they are for FontSpacing and FontMode if using the internal fonts.

Page0ChannelIndex=3
Page0Flags=18
Page0CenterXoff=0
Page0CenterYoff=0
Page0WidthMaximum=9400
Page0HeightMaximum=9600
Page0BorderThickness=3
Page0FontMode=10
Page0FontSpacing=0
Page0Columns=1
Page0Rows=1
Page0ExtInfoLinesDefault=9
Page0FilterDefault=None

And here you can download the 10 and 12 point font zip file.

Put the font files into the ProgramFiles/Settings/Fonts folder. If the Fonts folder doesn't exist, create it first.

I found it easy to copy the above code into an existing skin file and do a save as.

It would be also good to make available the font(s) you have created. You can send them to me and I'll upload them for you.

Send me an email with the attached font file(s) to toppy@escconcepts.com. They are usually only quite small - even smaller if you ZIP them up before sending.
Cheers,
Phil.

Phill,

Once a user has created a Fonts folder in ProgramFiles/Settings/ and copied say the Arial_Narrow_10.fnt and Arial_Narrow_12.fnt files to that directory could you give a step-by-step guide to what they then need to do to use one or other of those fonts for the Just EPG Vs 17 release, particularly touching on whether this can all be done via the TAPs Menu items or whether editing the .ini file is necessary.

Hi Rob,

Before uploading your Font files to the Toppy, remember to rename your font files to 10.fnt and 12.fnt, regardless of whatever font style or font size they actually are. If you use FTP, you upload them as they are named in the Zip file and then rename them directly on the Toppy.

From here on, everything can be done via the JE Menu.

Go to the top of JE's Menu by using the Recall button. Then scroll down to the Goto Buttons> sub menu.

Now scroll down further until you get to  Font Toggle> and select a button if None is showing. My choice is the SAT button as you can see.

The next entry is where you enter the font numbers. You can only enter 2 numbers and they are forced separated by a comma. Use the left and right arrows on the D pad to move from one entry to the other. Use the |< and >| keys for the first digit and the OK button for the second digit in each of these two numbers.

Now go back to the top of the menu (Recall key) and then select Goto Pages>.

For Page 0 and all other pages enter the number 10. This will cause your default font size (usually the smaller of the two if the 10.fnt file contains the smaller font) to come up when you load JE. By presssing the SAT key, it will select the second of your fonts and back again to the smaller one after another press.

That's it.

Thank Phil for the detailed instructions. The problem I'm having is when I get to the following;
"The next entry is where you enter the font numbers. You can only enter 2 numbers and they are forced separated by a comma. Use the left and right arrows on the D pad to move from one entry to the other. Use the |< and >| keys for the first digit and the OK button for the second digit in each of these two numbers."

When I get to entering the first font setting (followed by a comma and the second font setting) the highest number I can enter on both sides of the comma is 9. If I try to go higher the next character after 9 is a colon.

Is there a 'trick' to entering 10 and 12 respectively?
Robert

Ah, use the OK key - sorry, the keys used to edit/enter this particular Menu option is a bit different, although you can always use the OK key to advance the count on any Menu item.

You'll also note that the |< and >| keys cycle through alpha characters as well. It cycles through the whole alphanumeric alphabet and includes commas, curley braces etc etc, not that you need any of these bar the comma.

What were you original number(s) Rob? I ask because mine were originally set manually in my ini file via FTP. Once I have your entry, I'll set mine the same and have a fiddle with it - maybe then I have a better idea of what the problem might be.

So far, I've found that once you get the first number right, say the number 1, use the right arrow key to the next position, and then use the OK or |< and >| buttons to create the next digit. Now shift to the right again, use the same keys to create the comma, and so on.
