FANATICAL ENOUGH TO WATCH MORE THAN 86 HOURS OF TV?That's the big challenge TOPFIELD, Australia’s market leader in Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) and Steve Corica, are asking all soccer fans ahead of the World Cup.
Kicking-off today is the search to find Australia’s biggest soccer fanatics! We are looking for five footie fans to show their love for “The World Game” by watching as many back-to-back matches on TV as possible in an attempt to beat the existing Guinness World Record!
Sounds like a challenge? Well this marathon TV fest is no small feat given it will involve watching more than 30 pre-recorded and live international soccer games over three and a half days while the nation is simultaneously gripped in World Cup Fever.
“Qualifications to enter the Guinness Book of Records attempt couldn’t be easier” says Steve Corica. Potential fanatics seeking Guinness glory and prizes should visit the TOPFIELD record attempt web page atwww.toptvrecordings.com.au or www.facebook.com/TopTVRecordings to register their interest”
Corica, continues: “In a month, up to five lucky fans will be invited to join me at the World Cup Launch Party at Star City’s New Sports Theatre & Bar, Sydney. Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday June 12, 2010.”
As it stands, the current Guinness World Record for marathon TV watching stands at 86 hours and was set by Efraïm van Oeveren (Netherlands) in September 2009. By contrast, TOPFIELD fans will look to break the record by watching a selection of the greatest World Cup matches of the last fifty years as well as live crosses to the action from South Africa. This includes a live screening of the Australia versus Germany game brought to the contestants in all its glory on Australia’s biggest indoor television screen, Star City’s new stadium-style Sport’s Theatre which is also home to Australia’s longest bar (47 metres).
The winner will take home the ultimate entertainment package and will also win an opportunity to play a private, high-adrenaline computer game shootout with soccer legend and former Socceroo, Steve Corica.
